Rev. Ronald Eugene Speas is the youngest son of the late Cleo Alphonso and Louise Thomas Spease.

Born and raised in Tobaccoville, NC, Rev. Speas is a 1984 graduate of North Forsyth High School.

Before retiring in January 2016, Rev. Speas was employed with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol

for 30 years. As a result of his outstanding service to the public and his tireless dedication to the

community during his tenure as a State Trooper, he received numerous awards and distinctions, including

Trooper of the Year and the NC Governor’s Long Leaf Pine Award. As both a State Trooper on the

highways and a spiritual soldier in the church, his steps have always been ordered by the Lord and his

spiritual cadence has consistently been in rhythm with his divinely ordained purpose.

Respected as a faithful, fruitful, forward-thinking leader, Rev. Speas is a humble servant of God who has

been in the ministry preaching the gospel of Christ for more than 30 years. He was licensed to preach the

gospel in 1992 and was ordained in 1995. Throughout his ministry, he has been pastored and mentored by

great spiritual shepherds (like the late Rev. J.R. Samuels of St. Stephen's Missionary Baptist Church in

WS, NC) who have contributed significantly to his spiritual development and personal growth.

Committed to kingdom building, Christian development, collaborative ministry and community outreach,

Rev. Speas has taught in various venues and diverse settings, including the NC General Baptist State

Convention, High Point Educational and Missionary Baptist Association (HPEMBA), the Forsyth

Countywide Baptist Training Union, the Forsyth County Sunday School Union and the Yadkin Valley

Baptist Association. He avails himself to kingdom work through leadership positions among his

ministerial peers and holds office in several Christian associations. He currently serves as the First Vice

Moderator of the HPEMBA and President of the Baptist Ministers Conference of WS. Not only is he exuberant in the

church, but his service transcends the four walls of a building into the community. As a public servant and community

leader, Rev. Speas mentors and tutors youth in the Winston-Salem-Forsyth County school system, and he

works with the Triad Pastoral Network to help improve health and reduce inequities of congregations and

communities in the Piedmont Triad.

Armed with biblical knowledge and anchored in the power of the Holy Spirit, Rev. Speas serves proudly

as the senior pastor of Fresh Wind Fellowship Baptist Church (W-S, NC). He is a spirit-filled teacher and

passionate preacher who loves the Word and lives the Word. He firmly believes that if you stay in the

Word, the Word will stay in you! As such, he ministers with power and purpose, with conviction and

confidence, with boldness and brilliance. Through his ministry, Rev. Speas empowers the people of God

to walk boldly in their spiritual purpose and inspires Christians to operate joyfully in their spiritual gifts.

The deep love that Rev. Speas has for the Lord is reflected in one of his favorite scriptures, Romans 8: 28

which states, "And we know all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are

then called according to His purpose."

Rev. Speas is married to the former Dr. Soncerey L. Montgomery, and has two adult children: Brittany

and Bryan (Kirby); and three grandchildren, Brenden, Greyson, Khloe'.
